A small earthquake occurred at 12:20pm Wednesday 19th February under the Firth of Thames in the same location as the Kerepehi Fault. Reports of weak shaking were reported by followers from Waikawau and Waiheke Island.
36 quakes have been recorded in this area since GeoNet records began which includes the small swarm of 8 quakes in 1963. The last quake to occur under the Firth of Thames was a Magnitude 1.6 on 29th March 2019.
